Steven M. Chanley is a shareholder with Employer Advocates Group LC (“EAG”)  where he concentrates on the representation and counseling of employers in all aspects of labor and employment law.  Mr. Chanley is rated by Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory as “AV,” the highest rating given to attorneys based on their legal ability and professional ethics, reliability and diligence.    

Mr. Chanley has over 25 years’ experience representing employers in civil and administrative litigation matters, and providing consultation and advice to employers across a broad range of industries regarding labor and employment law matters.  His practice includes the litigation of wage-hour, trade secret/non-competition, sexual harassment, employment discrimination, and wrongful discharge matters.  He also represents employers before the California Labor Commissioner, the Department of Fair Employment and Housing, and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.  Mr. Chanley also counseled corporations in employment and personnel policy matters, and has conducted training seminars for supervisors and human resources managers. 

Mr. Chanley is a graduate of California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo (B.A., cum laude, 1985) and the University of California, Hastings College of the Law (J.D., 1989).  During law school, he was a member of the Hastings Moot Court Board, and won two American Jurisprudence awards for academic excellence in the study of Labor Law.  In 1989, he served as an extern at the National Labor Relations Board’s Regional Office in San Francisco.  

Prior to founding EAG in February 2002, Mr. Chanley was a shareholder with Sinsheimer, Schiebelhut, Baggett & Tangeman in San Luis Obispo.  Before joining that firm in 1995, he was an attorney with Littler Mendelson in San Francisco (1989-1990), and with Morrison & Foerster, one of the world’s largest international law firms, where he practiced labor and employment law in the firm’s Palo Alto office (1990-1995).  Mr. Chanley has been a Chair of the San Luis Obispo County Bar Association Labor & Employment Law Section.

Mr. Boyd is a San Luis Obispo native with over 20 years’ of law practice experience in every phase of litigation.  He studied English at the University of California, Los Angeles, where he graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in 1994. Tony graduated from the University of San Diego School of Law with a Juris Doctorate in 1997. 

Mr. Boyd began his career in San Diego, where he practiced complex civil litigation and professional liability defense, then moved to Santa Barbara in 1999, where he practiced with Hatch & Parent (now Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck), concentrating on business litigation.

Tony returned to San Luis Obispo in 2001, where he has practiced law ever since.
